School Committees
School committees offer an opportunity for parents, students, staff, and administrators to get involved in shaping the decisions that are made at the school level.
School Site Council
The Schoolsite Council (SSC) is a decision-making group of parents, students, school staff, and administrators. The SSC participates in determining how funds are allocated to the school, and develops, monitors, and evaluates the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). The SSC evaluates the effectiveness of programs in increasing student achievement by reviewing student achievement data, coordinating with the School English Learner Advisory Committee (SELAC) to review programs for English Learners, and reviewing the use of Supplemental and Title I funds to support target populations. For more information or to get involved, visit your student’s school office or website.
The SSC meets once per month on the last Tuesday at 3:45p.m. in Staff Lounge. The meeting is open to the public. Please contact Principal Lindsey Beall at 408-535-6277 for more information.

Community Coffee
This year, we’re excited to host a series of Community Coffees- welcoming spaces where families and school staff can come together to learn, share, and connect. Each coffee will highlight a specific topic designed to support student learning and strengthen our school community. Sessions will be interactive, with time built in for questions, discussion, and clarification.
We know schedules can be busy, so if you’re unable to join us in person, we’ll share resources from each session here on our website after the session for you to explore at your convenience.
We’d love to see you at any (or all!) of the Community Coffees that spark your interest. If you have ideas for future topics, please reach out to us at wgm@sjusd.org—your input helps shape the conversations that matter most to our community.
Dates & Topics:
- 9/16/25: NWEA & Your Student
- 10/16/25: Title 1 Parent Engagement
- 11/13/25: Special Education
- 2/5/26: 8th Grade End of Year and Beyond (Presentation - English)
All Community Coffees are held in the Willow Glen Middle School Library at 8:45am.
9/16/25: NWEA & Your Student
In our first Community Coffee of the year, we explored the NWEA MAP Growth assessment—a computer-adaptive test in reading and math that helps teachers, school admin, parents, and students measure student growth over time.
This video of the presentation walks families through what the test measures, what RIT scores mean, how to read a student’s report, and practical ways to support learning at home. The video has Spanish subtitles for those that might need them.
Additional Spanish Resources:
Unfortunately the Family Report from NWEA does not come translated into any other language. Instead NWEA provides an example Family Report in Spanish to assist families with understanding their students’ data. We have linked it below to help.
