Special Education

We have 3 Full Time Resource Specialists (RSP Teachers), and 3 Full Time Special Day Class Teachers (SDC Teachers)- two that are designated Mild-Mod and one that is designated Mod-Severe. In addition, all teachers have the support of 1 or more Instructional Associates (Paraeducators).

Students who qualify for Special Education are offered Services, Accommodations, class placement in accordance to their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Most students are mainstreamed in the General Education setting for the maximum number of periods each day in accordance to their abilities.

Special Education Resources

We encourage families to review their rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), read the Parent Handbook developed by the Northwest Santa Clara County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA), and review procedural safeguards as set by the California Education Code.

Procedural Safeguards

Educational law recognizes the value of parental input when decisions are made about the educational needs of a child. Decisions are to be made cooperatively with parents, school personnel, and other persons with special knowledge of a child with the development of an educational plan appropriate to a child’s unique needs. To ensure that your child receives the education to which they are entitled, your involvement is imperative.
